Single - Ask Me Why?

SingleAskMeWhy.com was a crazy idea I had that being single should be more fun. I know there are people out there that are single that are having fun, and I have met many of them, but there are also a lot of people struggling with ways to connect with others and celebrate the single life. I know being single is not a one size fits all but when over half the population is single and with a large portion of that population wanting to stay that way, I decided I wanted to find a way to have a little fun with the single community and create products that celebrate the single life. I think stories bring people together and in my time being single I have found that each single person has a unique story beyond the world of dating apps. There are lots of stories about dating apps as well, I have heard a lot about them, being ghosted, finding out they are married, different than advertised and I found the person that I was looking for. I myself ended a long-term relationship right before the pandemic and found myself single for the first time in a long time and at the same time navigating the life of avoiding others. Lock downs and trying to find ways to accessorize with a mask on.

I joined groups based on hobbies and things I had shared with my ex-boyfriend, like hiking and found many others who found themselves single and some who wanted to find more connection and yet struggled to find it and others who found navigating dating apps to be a less than inspiring experience. Some were able to find the connection they needed through the dating apps and groups but there were many that felt that they craved connection but felt that they were too introverted for groups and found the dating app world daunting. I came up with the idea to create products that celebrated what it meant to be single and at the same time inviting others to share their own personal single story. You could be looking for the person that finishes your sentences or you could be embracing the freedom that the single life provides, maybe the single life gave you the chance to embrace your dreams that seemed out of reach for you as part of a couple. I would be happy to one day find “The One”, but in the meantime I am ready to have some fun. I am looking forward to the journeys ahead and I am ready to hear your stories, the good the bad and the awkward.
